Inspired Design

Gudrun Sjodren is a Swedish designer whose bright floral clothing designs are my current favorite. I’m a huge Hanna Andersson aficionado but they are no longer manufacturing women’s clothes except pajamas.

Gudrun Sjodren uses bright beautiful delightful floral confections that absolutely delight the Hanna Andersson groupies like me!

Happy Art on Happy Clothing equals a Happy Heart!

Here’s a quick sketch inspired by one of their current collections.

Little Debbie Does Dolls

We are the local Little Debbie Snack Cake distributors , so we see her face on all our product. So, I suppose it shouldn’t come as any surprise if she subconsciously shows up in my artwork, lol. Totally not intended but pretty cute, nonetheless.

B is for Bunny, T is for Trouble: the Trouble with Bunnies

Folks always assume an artist can draw Anything.

Ím here to tell you that’s Not So.

See that bunny up there?

That´s my 10th bunny today, or somewhere thereabouts. Or would that be Thereabunnies?

Yoúd think something so absolutely adorable, soft, round and squishy would be easy to draw….but not just draw it, but make it Look adorable.

Earlier versions of that bunny were not particularly adorable or attractive, and certainly not something folks would want to color, put on their cards and send to family members for Christmas.

Ím just glad this particular bunny finally decided to cooperate or Íd probably still be sitting here trying to figure out how to get him to.

And that’s the Trouble with Bunnies.

Oh, Glo On!

Red-y for Fall, Sherry West, Cover, Glo Magazine, November, 2020.

Shés here!

Today is the day!

Glo magazine released their latest issue, and my art is on the cover! Glo is a FREE womeńs monthly Ft. Wayne, Indiana publication.

I’ve been wanting to see my art on the cover for the last few years since they started publication. What a thrill!

It was such a treat for me to meet the editors at a home and garden show, and I have quite a few of the past Glo issues in my possession. I just love their magazine and covers.

And now I get to be in it. How awesome is that?

Ím pretty sure Ím Glo-ing.

If yoúd like to color and with this image, here she is! Shés red-y for Fall and Winter! And you can be, too!

Wonderfully Weird

Cooyright, Sherry West, Sherry West Art, 2020. Allrights reserved.

I keep my black 11×14 spiral-bound Canson sketch book on the counter next to the stove so I can draw when I’m in the kitchen doing stuff.

I also keep these colorful pens in a favorite Pfalzgraff cup nearby for making grocery lists.

Pad plus pens equals PICTURE!

I didn’t set out knowing what I wanted to draw. Actually, I never do, lol. I just start drawing and whatever comes out comes out.

So, if she looks kinda weird, that might be why, lol.

Since I’ve discovered something new and fun and artsy crafty, she’s going to get turned into a mixed-media piece.

I ‘ll post her when I’m done.

INGREDIENTS:

Canson sketch pad (Walmart)

Jot Rollerball ink pens (Dollar Tree or Dollar General)

The Nerd Bird Bird Herd

BIRD HERD

Outside my window there are herds

Of all sorts and kinds of noisy birds.

They’re really, really going NUTS!

No if, ands, or buts.

They chirp and call and chirp and sing.

They’re goin crazy ‘cause it‘s SPRING!

One day it’s 20 degrees out and snowing. The next day it’s 50 degrees, the snow melted off, and you have to go back in the house because you dressed in long underwear, thick pants, long sleeves, a heavy coat, hat, scarf and gloves, and now you’ve got to put on a short-sleeved shirt. That’s how you know it’s Spring in Indiana.

Even the birds are confused.
